For 20 years, The Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Tournament has been bringing celebrities together in the Algarve to celebrate my father’s life and raise much-needed funds for Refúgio Aboim Ascensão, a children’s charity based in Faro.
This year, the tournament raised nearly €90,000, taking the total funds generated since its formation to nearly €1.55 million.
As my dad would have wanted, our work continues, with dates for 2026 now agreed. It will be held over two days: Friday 5th June and Saturday 6th June. It represents a major milestone as it will be the 21st anniversary of the founding of The Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Tournament.
It also gives our family the greatest pleasure to advise that we are handing over the organisation of the tournament to Paul and Annette Jones. We have known Paul and Annette for many years and are thankful to them for taking over such a wonderful event. We will, of course, continue to attend the event and give them our full support.
If you wish to book a team or provide sponsorship, then Paul and Annette are available at sirbobbyrobsongolf@hotmail.com or +44 7739 250195.
Please see on this website more details about the golf, the venue, our gala dinner and children’s party; and the financial support we provide to the Refúgio. Also, see how you can get involved, either by entering a team of three players (who will be joined by a celebrity player) or by sponsoring the tournament or a prize at the tournament.
On behalf of myself and the Robson family, we thank you for your interest and support.
Mark Robson, October 2025.
“Every child has the right to be loved.”
The Refugio Aboim Ascensao benefits from from the funds raised by the tournament. It’s a home that, at any one time, is looking after 95 children. It is a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation. Its Director is Dr. Luis Villas-Boas. Together with his dedicated team, they help create a new home and new lives for children badly in need of a helping hand. Their philosophy is simple yet compelling: “Every child has a right to be loved”.
